During a second action weekend, young men from the pilot quartier Bene Baraque met to breathe new life into old tires by painting them for urban greening. The colourful tires were installed along the central street in the quartier and planted with ornamental plants. The tires help delimit areas which are being used for urban gardening from the newly created promenade, as well as indicating which areas are safe for walking during the floods. By reusing tires in this way, the community is reflecting on and implementing methods for recycling waste to enhance the quality of life in their quartier.
